Theme: Summer/dont overheat

So penguinsonparade.tumblr.com and I thought it would be pretty fly to host a cosplay gathering this july, since I do not see many happening~
The theme is “summer”, but beyond that there is no particular sort of theme, just dress to not pass out from heat stroke! The location will be either site GA7 or GA6 along 17th street and Sutterville Rd, that way we are more easy to spot whilst driving~ However, if anyone can suggest a better locale within the park, please do so!
Also, I will try my best to bring water. However, I cannot drive. So, if I can, I can pay someone to bring lots of water. This is a thing that can happen. Also, if others can bring things, that would be cool too uvu

So, the rules are more lax with my group, as, in San Jose, any gatherings in large, open parks (or downtown, since they are used to it and we meet in a park anyways) we allow paint, however paint is always allowed at your own discretion, as it will be hot and people maaay ask about it.

Da Rules:
- Paint: allowed at your own discretion. You may get stares/questions from those not involved in the gathering. Also, it will be hot. Also, I ask that you please seal your paint with both sealing spray and setting powder, as just the spray dos not work.
- Horns: Again, at your own discretion, as you will get questions and what-not. Also, no one but yourself is responsible for broken horns (unless someone literally and with intent breaks your horns)
- No yelling/swearing, we will be in a public place and one can add much more to his/her/xir/their vocabulary without needing to resort to swearing (however, this is Homestuck so I cannot stop it, I just ask that you think before you speak)
- Please be respectful to both those attending and not attending the gathering. We do not want anyone bringing their dramu with them or harassing attendees or onlookers.
- If anyone outside of the gathering asks what is going on, please explain to them respectfully without saying “this is a cult” or whatever, its kind of childish.
- Do not throw anything.

So Brad totally talked about this in an interview, saying that Shiloh prefers to be addressed by all the family as John (and if anyone calls ze—I guess, I’m not sure if there are chosen gender pronouns yet, so I’m just going to use ze/zir—Shiloh, ze’ll be all “it’s JOHN OKAY?”) and prefers traditionally “masculine” things like swords and boy clothes etc., and he and Angelina don’t care because they a) recognize that not all children are the same/follow traditional gender binaries and b) they love John no matter what so it doesn’t matter to them what gender ze is. Which I thought was awesome/adorable.

I’m not nessesarily a big fan of Jolie, however I will say this: If my mother had done for me what she is doing for Shiloh/John it would have saved me a a childhood full of frustration, numbness and confusion. I would not now look back on 19 years worth of life and wish I had been able to LIVE IT. Instead, I spent 19 years pretending to be someone else. I can’t help but feel robbed. Why do we tell children who they are? HOW can we tell children who they are?

Parents, please, LISTEN to your kids. Embrace difference and know that you are raising your children right by allowing them to be themselves and loving them unconditionally.
